Aug 30, 2024 Mitschmyer Receives Art Educators AwardConVal High School art teacher Karrie Mitschmyer recently was honored with the High School Division Award by the New Hampshire Art Educators Association (NHAEA) for the 2024-25 school year. The award designates her as a premier art educator in the state. Mitschmyer has been teaching art at ConVal High School for the past nine years. In that time, she has developed a comprehensive education for students by applying her diverse artistic skill set to the curriculum. Under her leadership, which included serving as the Chair of the Visual and Performing Arts Department, students have been able to learn about ceramics, 2D studio art, and 3D studio art. In addition, Mitschmyer is the advisor of the ConVal Yearbook Club where students and teachers collaborate to produce the annual ConVal yearbook. She also acts as a volunteer advisor for Extended Learning Opportunities, assisting students who seek to develop personalized plans of study in line with their artistic talents and passions. Outside the classroom, she serves as the Chair of the Children and the Arts Committee that organizes the annual Children and the Arts Festival in May. In their letter accompanying the award, the NHAEA Committee emphasized Mitschmyer’s dedication, community engagement, and creative programming and noted especially her “creativity and enthusiasm in working with students, colleagues, and community members that enriches art education in our state.” Congratulations, Mitschy, on this prestigious award!
